For cyclists who want Ortlieb's reliability without the environmental footprint of PVC, the Rack-Pack Free is the answer.

In every other respect it is the Rack-Pack you know: stable on the rack, fast to clip on and off, immediate to open and close, and built to last. The single Black colourway keeps the focus on the material choice rather than the colour.

IP64 Waterproofing

The Rack-Pack Free is rated IP64 — completely dustproof and protected against water jets from all directions. The PVC-free PU-coated material delivers the same waterproof performance as the Classic Cordura construction without PVC in the formulation. The roll-top closure seals the main compartment completely, no zips or additional covers required.

Mounting and Carrying

The Quick-Lock 2.1 system mounts to any standard rear rack instantly and releases with one hand. The included reducer set covers tube diameters from 8 to 20 mm. A detachable shoulder strap and side D-rings allow comfortable off-bike carry.

What makes the Rack-Pack Free different from the Classic?

The Rack-Pack Free uses a PVC-free material composition — the PU coating and base fabric are formulated without PVC, reducing the environmental impact of the bag's production and end-of-life disposal. Performance, waterproofing (IP64), volume (31L) and mounting (QL2.1) are identical to the Classic. The Free is currently available in Black only.

Is the waterproofing the same as the Classic?
